Nissan e.dams working hard at Formula E preseason test
Team developing updated season seven challenger in Valencia
Nissan e.dams drivers Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland have so far completed more than 250 laps and gathered significant amounts of performance data with their ABB FIA Formula E World Championship race cars at the official four-day preseason test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, Spain.
Racing ahead into season seven, their third season together with Nissan e.dams, Buemi and Rowland retained their car numbers of #23 and #22, respectively. However, in honor of two of Nissan’s finest road-going all-electric vehicles, the drivers’ all-electric race cars were named ‘Nissan Ariya’ for car #23, and ‘Nissan LEAF’ for car #22. The cars will compete with their new names and familiar race numbers throughout season seven.
Speaking at the test, Tommaso Volpe, Nissan’s global motorsports director, introduced the team, drivers and updated race cars.
“It’s great to be here in Valencia with the team to test and develop our race car ahead of season seven,”
he said.
“2020 is a significant year for us. We celebrate our second place in season six, racing as Nissan e.dams. As Nissan, we also celebrate ten years since we launched the Nissan LEAF, the world’s first mass-produced all-electric car, with 500,000 cars produced so far.
“We also launched our new Ariya all-electric SUV. We’ve been making EVs for 70 years, so to commemorate our past, present and future in EVs, we will name our race cars ‘Nissan Ariya’ and ‘Nissan LEAF’. For Nissan, Formula E is the ultimate testing and proving ground to continue to build our EV expertise.”
Nissan is competing in Formula E to showcase its Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision for changing how vehicles are powered, driven and integrated into society, and to bring the excitement of powerful EV performance to racing fans worldwide.
