The Meg is based on the 1997 science fiction book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten. The film follows expert sea diver and former Naval Captain Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham), who five years prior encountered a mega monster that forced him to abort his mission and abandon half his crew. The incident cost him his career and marriage.
Fast forward five years, and a group of scientists must stop a 22m-long Megalodon shark when it rises from the depths of the ocean and attacks their research submersible, leaving the crew stranded. Taylor is called to help rescue the crew and stop the shark before it attacks the mainland and makes a meal of those off-shore.
The film also stars Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis, and Cine Prestige theatres will make for an extra special treat, so you can enjoy The Meg in luxury.
