Chereé returns to her roots with first single from her new album, Another Day
Chereé, one of South Africa’s most beloved female artists, is back in the spotlight with the release of her brand-new single, ANOTHER DAY – the first track from her long-awaited album of the same name.
This song not only marks a new chapter in Chereé’s career but is also a personal journey back to her love for country music, a genre which she has always cherished.
With over two decades of experience in the music industry, the singer is ready to reintroduce her audience to the sincere and emotional depth of country music.
ANOTHER DAY is more than just a song to her – it encapsulates her essence as an artist. After years of success in the Afrikaans industry, she has decided to return to the music that originally inspired her. The song reflects themes of love, loss, hope, and faith – something she personally relates to.
The music video, which will also be released on the 4th of October 2024, was filmed at Tweefontein Dairy in Kempton Park.
With the talented team from Coolerbox Brothers leading the production, the video perfectly captures the sadness and message of the song, with Michael van Zyl as the director and Tshepang Modisane behind the camera.
Siobhan Venter’s artistic vision illuminated every scene, while makeup artist Loraine Olivier ensured that Chereé looked stunning on camera. The collaboration of this creative team resulted in a captivating video that beautifully complements the emotional aspect of the song.
Regarding her latest project, she says:
“This album is truly ANOTHER DAY for me. It’s the beginning of my journey back to my roots, back to my first love in music. I’ve found my voice again, and I have a story to tell, one of love, loss, hope, and faith.”
Chereé’s passion for storytelling through music is reflected in every note and serves as a heartfelt invitation for listeners to join her on this new adventure.
The song captures the simplicity and purity of country music, with its timeless chords and heartfelt lyrics that resonate with universal experiences.
The full album, ANOTHER DAY, represents a significant turning point in the musician’s career.
After more than 23 years of success, she is excited to do something she truly enjoys again. Coming from a musical family, she was exposed to country legends like Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline, as well as Faith Hill and Deanna Carter. It’s this connection to the emotional depth and simplicity of country music that she hopes to share with her fans.
After her path recently crossed with that of local music icon Sunette Bridges – a fellow country music lover with similar life experiences – they decided to collaborate on ANOTHER DAY.
“It was a dream come true to work with Sunette and to be the first artist signed to her record label, Rivers & Bridges Music,”
she shares.
“I am incredibly proud that this is the first album produced by a woman in our industry.”
Additionally, the album was recorded across two continents, with Chereé and Sunette collaborating from their respective homes in South Africa and the USA. The end result is a collection of songs that not only celebrates the traditional sounds of country music but also offers a modern twist, making it relevant to today’s audience.
Over the years, Chereé has had several Afrikaans hits, including 30 Dae in die Somer and Prins van die Geweste, which earned her a dedicated fanbase. It was particularly the album Wilde Waters that solidified her place in the hearts of fans by combining Afrikaans and country influences.
Yet, despite her success, she always felt the call of country music, a genre that has been a constant in her life.
“My constant desire to sing country music never left me,”
she admits.
“It was a dream that wouldn’t fade, and now it’s a dream come true.”
With the release of ANOTHER DAY, Chereé enters a new era in her career. She not only returns to the genre that originally brought her fame but also takes a bold step forward in her personal journey as an artist.
“I’m in love with the purity of country music,”
she says.
“It speaks of family, love, joy, sorrow, and healing, and these are the stories I want to tell.”
Fans can look forward to several more releases from the album over the coming months, and she’s excited to share her new music with both familiar and new listeners.
ANOTHER DAY is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
