CEO SleepOut - Participants 2016
The bitterly cold wind pierces through your skin, right down to your bones. Your teeth chatter and the hunger in your belly gets a distraction from all of this activity in order to keep yourself warm, if only for awhile. You adjust the tattered, grey blanket on top of yourself and look up to see the bright stars peeping down at you from the dark sky...
There are people out there, struggling with no shelter, no roof over their head and this is their reality every single day.
For one night, Thursday 28 July 2016, South Africa's current and future business leaders will spend a winter's night sleeping on the Nelson Mandela Bridge, experiencing a small taste of homeless life; gaining empathy for those living on the streets and raising funds for education - an essential step on the road that leads to eradicating homelessness.
WHO ARE THE #4LEADERS4CHANGE?
Each of the CEOs and their nominees who participate in The Sun International CEO SleepOut will represent the CEO’s company. The CEO will nominate an exceptional staff member from their organisation, an outstanding student, and an inspirational matric learner – all with strong leadership qualities – to join them on The Nelson Mandela Bridge for the night. These are the #4Leaders4Change.
For the #4Leaders4Change to participate in The SleepOut, they must commit to pledging R160 000 which will be raised in the spirit of Paying It Forward; the CEO will pass on their R100 000 to their staff member, who will commit to helping the student raise R50 000. The student will then commit to helping the matric learner raise R10 000.
The three Primary Beneficiary Partners will receive an equal share of the net proceeds from the event.
