Continental Tyre SA certified Top Employer for second year in a row
Continental Tyre South Africa has been certified as a Top Employer for the second consecutive year by the Top Employers Institute in The Netherlands, recognising its commitment to creating a positive working environment for its employees.
According to the Top Employers Institute, its annual, international research recognises leading employers around the world; those that provide excellent employee conditions, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and which strive to continuously optimise employment practices.
"We are delighted to be recognised as a Top Employer for the second consecutive year, as this reaffirms Continental's ongoing commitment to creating an empowering working environment where our employees are given the opportunity to develop and grow, both professionally and personally," says Attie Higgs, Continental Tyre SA's general manager for Human Relations.
"Having a well-established culture within the company where employees are encouraged to explore and further their career paths creates a high level of engagement and motivation throughout the business. In turn, this helps create a working environment where employees make meaningful contributions to the company and are invested in the success of the organisation as a whole," Higgs explains.
Continental Tyre SA employs a talent management process that enables employees and managers to plan their future careers and trajectory within the company, find any development gaps and identify opportunities that would enrich the employee's growth.
"Corporate development programmes are available to our top performing employees, which gives these individuals access to a global network of colleagues and creates visibility for their talents to senior executives who can accelerate promotional opportunities within South Africa and the global Continental network which spans 60 countries," he adds.
This is complemented by the implementation of Continental's Future Work Flexibility program worldwide, helping employees effectively manage and coordinate their work and personal lives.
Continental Tyre SA's Port Elizabeth-based manufacturing facility is the only Continental tyre plant in Africa and employs around 1 500 people in South Africa and the Sub-Saharan Africa region - including the Continental Tyre West Africa division that was launched in 2016.
