"300,000 customers have chosen Datsun cars since the return of the brand in March 2014,"
said Jose Roman, corporate vice president and global head of Datsun.
"It's a short period in the history of any car brand, but with this impressive number, we have laid a solid foundation for our future growth. Great brands are not built by companies, they are built by people who build the cars, who use them daily and who make the ownership experience a rewarding one. We are thankful to everybody who has joined the Datsun journey so far and are committed to further enriching customers' experience with the brand."
In celebration of reaching this milestone, the brand launched the #Datsunlove Roadtrip campaign at the beginning of March this year. The campaign which ran during March, encouraged owners to invite prospective buyers, their friends and family members to capture stories of their experience of a Datsun road trip and share their #Datsunlove stories on social media.
Datsun South Africa offered all participants the opportunity to win one of the following prizes: First prize was R100,000 for a trip to Bali, Indonesia for the winner and a partner, second prize was a R20,000 shopping spree accompanied by a personal stylist and the third prize was R10,000 in cash.
The winner of the #Datsunlove roadtrip campaign is Sharne Mey, with the second place being taken by Shirin Vawda and the R10,000 cash prize was won by Arthur Buccus.
Sharne Mey took a very creative and innovative approach to expressing her love for her Datsun. She stuck notes featuring words such as “fuel efficient” and “stylish” on the dashboard, took pictures of them and then shared the pictures via social media, thereby kicking off phenomenal engagement of her posts.
Following this initial expression of affection for her Datsun, Sharne’s social media followers were then treated to a road trip during which Sharne and her sister went to a Kauai restaurant and afterwards, they enjoyed a few fun activities such as horse-riding.
“Sharne was a worthy winner of the #Datsunlove competition. Her entry illustrated the creativity and innovation of road tripping in her Datsun, something she has shared with thousands of other South Africans who have taken advantage of the affordable Datsun GO,”
says Des Fenner, General Manager of Datsun South Africa.
“The Datsun GO, as illustrated by Sharne’s entry, is more than just a vehicle. For many it has become an enabler that has expanded personal horizons. It has become a lifestyle vehicle and, by providing mobility for many, has even helped secure career opportunities.”
“We are also proud of the introduction of the Datsun GO+ with its best-in-class pricing and ability to seat seven people. Much like the Datsun GO, the GO+ will continue to turn dreams into reality, making ‘#Datsunlove’ something that is here to stay,”
says Fenner.
