A beautifully draped gazebo on a decked landing just off the bank of the Pienaar’s River – the perfect setting for an unusual wedding day… the guests wait in anticipation as the groom prepares to meet his bride for the very first time. It is episode 3 of Married at First Sight South Africa season 2, which started airing on 6 October 2017 on Lifetime DStv Channel 131.

After a gruelling and intensive matching process, six participants were chosen to tie the knot with complete strangers. Faircity Roodevallei Hotel pulled out all the stops to create an extraordinary wedding day for one of the three brave couples.

The hotel lies on the banks of the Pienaar’s River in Pretoria, surrounded by a nature reserve and a bird sanctuary. It makes for a peaceful, country setting that is still near enough to city conveniences in case you forget something at home.

A wedding involves so many different aspects and every tiny detail counts. With the help of generous and romance-loving sponsors, everything was top notch. Amongst the sponsors was the Cake Brothers, décor by Mogaleadi, Vividimages Photography, violinist Kristel Birkholtz, Studio 10 Entertainment and Earth Rituals.

“In this day and age, with so many ways to meet people using technology, it is very interesting to go back to the old tradition of arranged marriages, although with a modern spin of course. It is also fascinating to watch how these relationships evolve over a period of six weeks, from meeting at the altar for the first time, up to the point that the couples decide if they want to stay married. We were thrilled to host the couple, their families and the crew of Married at First Sight, and extremely proud to show off our stunning venue. With a choice of versatile indoor and outdoor spaces, we are well equipped to cater for almost any type of wedding”, explained Paul Duverge, General Manager of Faircity Roodevallei.

“We were so excited to have one of our stunning couples hosted by Faircity Roodevallei. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and fairytale-like experience. We are extremely grateful for the effort that Faircity went to accommodate everyone, from our couple to our crew. They put their heart and soul into making this a truly special occasion”, said producers of the show, Oxyg3n Media.

Unfortunately it was not a happily ever after for 41-year old Gaven Taele, who was left at the altar by his match, 27-year-old Lebo Diutlwileng.

Paul Duverge added, “Although it was not the wedding day celebration we had expected, we hope that Gaven and Lebo are both able to find their perfect match one day, perhaps even get the opportunity to meet each other and see if sparks fly. You just never know!”
