Firestone adds a stage to Splashy Fen
Firestone trekked to the famous Splashy Fen over the Easter weekend to give fans of this eclectic music, art and lifestyle festival a stage of their own.
The Splashy Fen festival was held this year from 29 March to 1 April and over 7 000 music fans made the pilgrimage to this unique event to be entertained by over 300 acts, which included Desmond and the Tutus, Mango Groove, Prime Circle, Goodluck and the international act, Bowling for Soup.
In support of the festival, Firestone brought its two bright red Volkswagen Kombis for its Firestone Karaoke Kombi (#FirestoneKK) experience. The two kombis - one a restored old school kombi and the other a brand-new 2017 Volkswagen Kombi supported by Volkswagen South Africa - are both equipped with state-of-the-art karaoke equipment.
”At Splashy Fen, festival-goers could select a song of their choice, enter one of our kombis and sing their song on our karaoke systems. Our team would expertly mix their live performance on the mixing desks before loading it on to the web and sharing it with the performer on his or her mobile phone.
“The crowds had great fun and their singing would often spill over into the stand, where everyone would share the microphones and sing to their heart’s content,”
says Patrick Leslie, Brand and Channel Marketing Manager at Bridgestone South Africa, the parent company of Firestone.
Firestone’s fantastic time at the Splashy Fen festival is testimony to the flexibility of this brand promotion. From festivals such as DStv Delicious to the Nampo Agricultural Show, the large catalogue of old and new music from local and international artists has attracted hundreds of fans and singers from all walks of life.
