Gold status for Die Kontrak winner, Demi Lee Moore, AND she receives a luxury vehicle
Hardly two weeks after Demi Lee Moore, winner of the first Die Kontrak television programme, released her album Mis Eet Slaap Herhaal, it reached gold status.
Demi Lee was named the winner of this popular television show on VIA (Channel 147) on November 23, during the first Afrikaans is Groot concert. In the programme, viewers were introduced to hopeful contestants participating for a Coleske Artists contract.
Demi Lee’s album, Mis Eet Slaap Herhaal, contains her new single with the same title, three more original hits, some of the songs she sang on Die Kontrak, as well as the popular performance of American country singer Cam’s hit “Diane”. After Demi Lee performed the song with her mentor, Monique Steyn, they also drew Cam’s attention who complimented them on social media for their version.
In the last Afrikaans is Groot show, Demi Lee was surprised to receive a gold award for her album for sales of more than 15 000 units. It’s an outstanding achievement for any artist, let alone an artist who is new to the scene with an album that has only been released two weeks ago.
And to crown it all, Demi Lee was surprised with a brand new Toyota C-HR that was handed to her by Calvyn Hamman, Senior Vice President of Toyota.
A thrilled Demi Lee was overcome with emotion when she received the vehicle.
“I can’t believe it! It feels unreal; all my dreams are coming true,”
she said.
Hamman said at Afrikaans is Groot as far as Toyota was concerned, she deserves the vehicle.
“Demi Lee should always strive to be the best Afrikaans musical star in South Africa.”
