We posted this riddle on our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn pages, as well as our Facebook Group page, and we received many answers ranging from 2, 4, 5 (not sure how), and 6.
While the most popular form of this riddle usually reads:
I have 6 eggs
I broke 2
I cooked 2
I ate 2
and the unofficial correct answer is 6, based on the premise that one would use the present tense of "I have 6 eggs" over the past tense of the other 3 sentences to arrive at the answer.
The riddle which we shared reads:
I have 6 eggs
I broke 2
I fried 2
I eat 2

Although the "broke" and "fried" are the past tense, the "eat" and "have" are present tense.
One can then assume that you start off with 6 eggs - based on the statement "I have 6 eggs"
You break 2 of those eggs - cracking them to get them ready to cook
You then fry the same 2 eggs - "I fried 2 eggs"
--> implying that you still have the 6 eggs, you just broke and fried them, but you still have them
Finally you eat the 2 eggs which you broke and fried - "I eat 2 eggs"
(only once you eat them, you have eliminated them)
Leaving you with 4 eggs
There is no official answer for this riddle, as the author is unknown, but based on the logical explanation, and the popularity of the answer 4, we are looking at this riddle sunny side up, and have come to the conclusion that the answer is that "You are left with 4 eggs."
