Jozi Unsigned in association with Concerts SA launches Gauteng East Schools Circuit
In association with Concerts SA; Jozi Unsigned are excited to be kicking off the Gauteng East Leg of the Concerts SA School circuit for 2019, with an interactive musical presentation by The Soweto Exchange, at the East Rand School of the Arts on February 5th.

The Soweto Exchange are a worldly fusion of Jazzy sentiments sprinkled with some Hip-Hop edge; inspired by the energy of SOWETO! Born out of the Englewood X Soweto musical exchange project overseen by Rashida Phillips of Old Town School of Folk (USA), and lead by distinguished saxophonist - Ernest Dawkins, this outfit is a youthful collective of musicians from Englewood Chicago, paired with a handful from Mzansi.

The artists from South Africa are former Zap Mama bassist Chantal Willie-Petersen; Vocalist and Acoustic-Electro artiste Keo Kolwane and the young trumpeter from KZN - Thabo Sikhakhane. The visiting musicians from Englewood are drummer Jeremiah Collier; exciting rising pianist Alexis Lombre; EMCEE Artemis and multidisciplinary DJ Brother El. The ensemble will be cherry on topped with the addition of a Kasi rapper from Soweto, who'll be identified once the collective ascend on WITS University, whose School of Arts are co-Sponsor of the project.
This Project and outing to a MAGNET school in Daveyton, seeks to be a meaningful multi-generational and cross-cultural experience, filled with sharing and learning between the scholars and the band, united in Music. The Soweto Exchange's musical presentation at the East Rand School of the Arts is as part of the Concerts SA school circuit, which aims to encourage appreciation for local music through concerts and workshop elements for school children
