More safety and peace of mind for Baleno buyers

Suzuki Auto South Africa has crammed additional safety features together with its renowned mechanical warranty into its already jam-packed Baleno range.

At the heart of this value-boost is the addition of an electronic stability program (ESP) as standard across the range. The ESP system combines stability control and traction control into one seamless safety system that prevents the vehicle from losing traction. It does this by sensing any danger, controlling engine output, and selectively braking different wheels.

ESP is especially valuable in wet or slippery conditions or when the vehicle is driven enthusiastically at high speeds. It is now standard on the GL and GLX models and on both manual and automatic gearboxes.

The Suzuki Baleno range was upgraded late in 2019, and with the addition of an ESP system it can now rightfully claim to be one of the safest vehicles in its class.

All models are equipped with ABS brakes, with emergency brake assistance (BAS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and they have side-impact bars on all doors. All models also have ISOFIX mounts for child safety seats, a high-mounted stop lamp and, on the security side, an alarm system as standard.

The Baleno was the first model to feature Suzuki’s lightweight and highly rigid HEARTECT platform that underpins most of its modern and popular stable mates such as the Swift, Ignis, the larger Ertiga and even the compact S-Presso.

This lightweight platform is 30% lighter than a conventional platform of a similar size. This results in improved handling and fuel efficiency. It is also 10% stronger, which explains its exemplary safety credentials. The body structure is further strengthened by Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept, which integrates high-strength steel and energy dispersion channels to create a platform and body structure that is both safe and solid.

The Baleno GL model is fitted with two airbags as standard, while the GLX model adds front side airbags and side curtain airbags as standard for a total of six airbags.

In addition to the ESP system, Suzuki Auto South Africa will continue to offer an industry-leading a 5-year / 200 000 km mechanical warranty on all new Baleno models. All Baleno models are also sold with a 4-year / 60 000 km comprehensive service plan as standard, further adding to the model’s value-for-money reputation.

The best news is that Suzuki Auto South Africa is offering all this additional value at no extra cost. The Baleno price remains unchanged, which gives hatchback buyers the space, performance, convenience and now also safety of a larger B-segment vehicle at the cost of an A- and Sub-B segment model.
