Mother's Day celebration hosted by White Star and Move! Magazine
South Africa’s favourite maize meal brand, White Star Super Maize Meal, and Move! Magazine, paid homage to the everyday heroes in our lives, our mothers, at an event this past weekend in Johannesburg.
The main speakers for the day were Move! editor, Nonzwakati Cekete, legendary radio personality Dudu ‘Lady D’ Khoza and the reigning Miss Soweto, Busisiwe Mmotla, who spoke about the roles that their mothers and grandmothers played in their lives, as well as their own experiences of motherhood.
Also in attendance were previous Miss Soweto winners, actresses Manaka Ranaka and Thandy Matlaila, who were all accompanied by the mother figures in their lives, while Jazz artist and budding DJ, Wanda Baloyi, was on the decks entertaining the guests.
“Being at this event was so inspiring. White Star and Move! put together an amazing event and we’re grateful for the platform to celebrate our mothers – an opportunity to show our appreciation for their love and sacrifices,”
said Miss Soweto, Busisiwe Mmotla.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to attend this event with my aunt who took me under her wing when I first came to Johannesburg 10 years ago. She’s been a second mother to me and has supported me through everything. Spending the day with her and her idol Dudu Khoza means everything to me. I’ll cherish this memory, thanks to White Star and Move!”
said Nolwazi Magula, one of the Move! readers who won tickets to attend this special event.
“Mother’s Day is important to the White Star brand because the majority of our consumer base are moms. We partnered with Move! magazine to create a platform to show our love and appreciation for them. We’re happy to have given our consumers and Move! readers a wonderful experience with their loved ones and favourite celebrities”
concludes White Star Marketing Manager, Mokhele Makhothi.
