The 3rd generation Renault Duster is a major overhaul of the popular SUV.  Built on the CMF-8 platform, it brings modernised styling, improved technology and more efficient powertrains while maintaining the Duster’s rugged appeal.

BUILD PLATFORM

The CMF-B Advantage 

The highly adaptable Common Module Family-B build platform has been utilized across several of Renault’s latest models, namely the Clio (5th Generation), Captur (2nd Generation), Arkana, Austral, Kardian and now the 3rd Generation Duster.

The CMF-B platform accommodates high-efficiency powertrains, significantly improves overall performance and retains the appeal and accessibility that have made it a success.

This platform allows for more passenger and luggage space compared to the previous generation, with only a slight increase in overall length (+2mm). Its advanced engineering also minimizes road noise and vibrations, enhancing driver comfort while maintaining a compact footprint.

The new Duster's dynamic behaviour is significantly improved through optimized anti-roll bars, resulting in reduced body roll and greater stability. Chassis stiffness is balanced for off-road driving by a new electronic management system. Refined damping settings, steering ratio and tuning, and tyre enhancements contribute to a more precise response in various driving conditions. The rolling noise is significantly reduced, creating a quieter and more enjoyable cabin experience.  The CMF-B platform paves the way for electrification, accommodating the mild-hybrid powertrain.

The 4WD version also benefits from these enhancements, offering increased versatility on all terrains. 

DESIGN

A Design That Makes a Statement

Renault has reimagined the Duster's design, retaining the striking looks that defined previous generations. It now elevates them with Renault's new, distinctive design language.  The new Duster proudly showcases refreshed aesthetics.

David Durand, Design Director, explains, “We began by refining the proportions to achieve a strong, balanced stance. Getting the proportions right early on eliminates the need for superficial styling tweaks later.”

"All the essentials, no artifices": This philosophy is central to the new Duster's design.  Designers focused on simple volumes, creating a modern, robust style with clean lines and a confident presence. The sharp, vertical front, chamfered wheel arches, large tailgate and seamlessly integrated side windows contribute to its powerful look.

The front and rear skid plates are mass-dyed, eliminating the need for paint and offering environmental benefits as well as increased durability.  The side underbody shields, wheel arch guards and other exterior elements are crafted from Starkle®, a durable material containing up to 20% recycled content.

Inside, the design echoes the exterior's robust character, creating a sense of protection.  The high, vertical dashboard and broad band contribute to this feeling.  Ergonomics are prioritized, including the 10.1 -inch central screen angled towards the driver.  The new automatic transmission e-shifter gear lever enhances ease of use.  The new Y-shaped signature design cues connect the interior and exterior: Y-shaped air vents and trim elements inside and Y-shaped LED headlights and rear lights outside.

Exterior: A bolder, tougher and more stylish SUV 

The new Renault Duster has undergone a significant exterior redesign making it more modern, rugged and aerodynamically efficient, while staying true to its off-road DNA.

The new Duster features a sharper, more angular design, giving it a more assertive road presence.

The higher ground clearance (up to 217mm (4WD)) makes it more capable off-road and gives it a more dominant stance. Flared wheel arches with cladding enhance its ruggedness while providing protection against dirt and debris.  Flush rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar for a sleek, coupe-like appearance and for practicality, the support roof-mounted storage is ideal for travel and outdoor activities. Prominent skid plates add protection and enhance its off-road nature.

Interior:  A reimagined interior

The new Renault Duster features a completely redesigned interior, offering a modern, practical and comfortable cabin that enhances daily driving and adventure trips.

The CMF-B platform creates a more spacious cabin, with increased legroom and boot space, whilst providing enhanced comfort, making it more practical and refined.

The new Duster ‘s interior cabin experience is enriched with enhanced space onboard with a wider and more practical interior, where the more ergonomic redesigned seats offer better lumbar support and improved cushioning for long journeys.  Thanks to the CMF-B platform, the New Duster offers better space optimization, providing more legroom and headroom, for improved comfort and seating for passengers.  Additional storage capacity includes increased glove box space, door bins, and centre console compartments.  The boot volume has grown to 472 litres (4x2).

The new adjustable steering wheel and seat height settings provide better ergonomics for drivers of all sizes, thereby optimizing the driving position.

• The new YouClip Accessory System, consisting of square-shaped supports placed throughout the cabin, allows for versatile storage.

The 4WD version offers 4WD Terrain Control with five driving modes: AUTO, SNOW, MUD/SAND, OFF-ROAD and ECO.  A generous ground clearance of 217 mm (between axles) in the 4WD version, along with class-leading optimized approach and departure angles, ensures exceptional off-road performance.  Downhill speed control provides added confidence on steep slopes.  Off-road driving information, such as lateral tilt, uphill/downhill pitch, and torque distribution, is displayed on the 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Extra-Heavy-Duty Protection:

Enhanced exterior and interior protection ensure the Duster is ready for any challenge.  Exterior shielding around the body protects against minor bumps and scratches.  The interior features durable materials, including washable TEP MicroCloud upholstery and rubber mats in the Intens trim.

Eco-Smart: Sustainable and Affordable:

The new Duster embraces sustainable driving with the new mild hybrid powertrain and the use of recycled materials.

The Duster utilizes Starkle®, a new material containing up to 20% recycled polypropylene, for exterior elements.  Nearly 20% of the cladding material in the Duster is recycled.  Renault has also eliminated decorative chrome and leather of animal origin.

More efficient powertrains:

The new Renault Duster 4WD model introduces a mild hybrid powertrain, offering a balance between fuel efficiency, lower emissions and improved performance. 

The mild-hybrid powertrain combines a new-generation 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V battery and an electric motor (starter generator) to assist the internal combustion engine.  For fuel efficiency and driving smoothness, the mild hybrid engine, with a 6-speed manual transmission, yields 96kW and increased torque efficiency through the electric assistance.

There are multiple benefits to this Mild Hybrid System:

• Better Fuel Efficiency reduces fuel consumption by up to 12.3% compared to a non-hybrid petrol engine.
• Lower CO2 emissions.
• Stop-start function.
• Improving low-end torque, enhancing acceleration and performance, particularly in stop-and-go traffic.
• Regenerative braking, where the system recovers energy during braking and stores it in the battery.

The Duster 4X2 EDC models are equipped with a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine, paired with the EDC automatic transmission in a front wheel drive 4X2 configuration.  Power output equates to 113kW, with 250Nm torque at 1,700 rpm. Depending on driving conditions and trim, fuel consumption is between 6.5L/ 100km, with CO2 emissions at 147g/ km.

SERVICING AND WARRANTY

The new Renault Duster is backed by a 5-year/150,000 km mechanical warranty, a 3-year/ 45,000 km service plan, and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty.

Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.
