Pretoria restaurant finds its rightful place on the culinary map
Forti Grill and Bar, one of Pretoria’s finest and certainly favourite restaurants has become the first establishment in the capital city to be nominated for a star in the prestigious Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards.

says Chef Patron, Forti Mazzone.
In a significant and important shift in the judging process and for 2022, the judging panel introduced a star rating system that recognises excellence among a broader range of restaurants. The six acclaimed judges (Abigail Donnelly, Karen Dudley, Mokgadi Itsweng, Moses Magwaza, Anna Trapido and Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen) scored the restaurants based on food, ingredients, décor and ambiance.
Forti Grill and Bar opened its doors six years ago and has since become a favourite in the Jacaranda City.
“Since our first day, we have hosted customers from across the globe, but during lockdown it was our Pretoria customers who supported us by ordering our popular lockdown specials”.
Mazzone continues by explaining that his passion for authentic food and service was the driving force behind opening Forti Grill and Bar, the first establishment under the Forti Group.
“Despite Covid, we persevered and under the operational eye of Executive Chef and partner Cristiano Pizzut, Forti Grill and Bar is now nominated for another of South Africa’s prestigious hospitality accolades”.
Pizzut and Mazzone joined forces more than 30 years ago under the wing of the late Giovanni Mazzone of the original Giovanni restaurants, later Ritrovo and the group of BICCCS bistros. Restaurants owned by the Mazzones have received multiple awards in the last 30 odd years.

The 2022 Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards will be presented on 20 November in Cape Town.
