Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) had the pleasure of hosting renowned Autotrader UK journalist and former BBC TopGear presenter Rory Reid.
The trip also offered a thrilling opportunity to showcase track capabilities of Toyota's high-performance GR lineup, with a special focus on the GR Corolla – a model that has yet to make its way to the UK market.
Rory and his team’s itinerary saw them head to Zwartkops Raceway, the home of Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa, where they experienced Toyota's full suite of GR vehicles – including the GR86, GR Supra, GR Yaris, and the GR Corolla.
A particularly interesting moment for Rory was his hands-on experience with the GR Corolla. It was an exclusive opportunity for him to get behind the wheel of the GR Corolla, a model that hasn't made its way to the UK. He was quick to point out that South Africa is the only [allegedly] country where all four GR models are available – a motorsport paradise, indeed.
In a conversation about the GR Corolla, Rory noted how special it was to drive this model, commenting on its raw power and exciting handling characteristics. It’s clear that this model, along with the others, is built to thrill. The day at Zwartkops Raceway was filled with racing action, as the AutoTrader UK crew took all four models for spins around the circuit, providing a full spectrum look at their performance.
