Visitors explored a vast array of vehicle displays, from the automotive industry’s newest vehicle models, to classic, luxury and exotic cars, along with many exciting experiences that kept the crowds entertained.

Marketing Director of the Cape Town Motor Show, Garth Rhoda said:

“We had a fantastic show with footfall increasing to over 23 000, and exhibitors and visitors have given us overwhelming feedback about their positive experience of the show. We were thrilled for the CTMS to be part of a huge water donation initiative this year, where with BP Southern Africa and Orliflex Logistics, we combined our efforts to bring much needed water to a number of charities in Cape Town. As organisers we were pleased to put on a show that was bigger and better than last year, and have exciting plans to improve the show yet again next year.”

Peter Lindenberg, CEO of Shelby SA, said:

“Cape Town Motor Show was a great platform for the second year running for Shelby SA and our thanks to the organizers for not only putting on a great show, but most importantly for attracting such a large crowd of motor car enthusiasts, many of whom were there to do their homework about future purchases. From a Shelby point of view, we had a successful weekend with tremendous interest in the 3 modern Shelby’s on our stand, and our 1965 GT350 Replica.”

Successful new additions to the show included the Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells area, where visitors had a retro experience out of the 1950s, with axe throwing, a roller-skating rink and pedal karts, a tattoo parlour and barber’s shop, vintage stalls, café racers and classic cars, accompanied by the sounds of the era. Another hit was the 4x4 area built by Wildebeest 4x4 Extreme Challenge Club, where technical skills as well as the different vehicle capabilities were tested to the max.

Adults and children were thrilled by the wheel-spinning, tyre-smoking action of the drift car displays by XS Promotions, where the drift cars used a whopping 92 tyres during the course of the weekend! The Jaguar and Land Rover village provided a chance for an up-close and personal experience of these iconic brands, including self-drive and driven experiences.

Car clubs and individuals also grabbed the opportunity to display their vehicles, and enjoyed being a part of the show. Glen Esterhuizen from the Porsche Club

Cape Town said:

“We had 32 vehicles on display, and we held a concours as part of the event. Visitors were flabbergasted to see so many Porsches in one space. Porsche Centre Cape Town brought two brand new vehicles to be part of our display which added a wonderful extra element. The show was great exposure for our club and we acquired new members, and we hope to have a bigger space next year to include more of our members’ vehicles.”

Many incredible giveaways added to the excitement for visitors, and thanks to the Cape Town Motor Show and Mike Hopkins Motorcycles, Roger Cannon drove away with a brand new Kawasaki Ninja 300. Mitchell Guy was the winner of a custome-built late 70s Ford model truck, presented by the Cape Town Motor Show and WFI Auto Detailing.

Mitchell Guy said of his Cape Town Motor Show experience:

“I am a petrolhead. Whether its two wheels, four wheels, trucks or cars, I am interested, so there was no way I was going to miss the Cape Town Motor Show. It was an awesome event, well laid-out at a great location, and I enjoyed the fact that the displays were not crowded on top of each other. I am thrilled to have won the Ford Truck, and I will certainly be back next year!”
