The Cell C Playing for Pink Event Returns this October
On Sunday, 2nd of October 2016, the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo Event, aimed at supporting breast cancer survivors, will grace the fields of the Inanda Club in Sandton for the second year running.
This prestigious event, presented by Edith Unlimited in partnership with leading network provider Cell C, will see hundreds of polo enthusiasts flocking to the Inanda Club to enjoy a day of pampering and high fashion. This year’s theme, ‘Pink Circus’, will undoubtedly bring with it airs of grace, glitz, glamour and panache.
The event is aimed at raising funds for Reach for Recovery’s ‘Ditto Project’, an initiative in benefit of women from low-income groups who wish to undergo reconstructive surgery to get breast prosthesis after suffering from breast cancer, but don’t necessarily have access to the funds required to do so.
Suzette van der Merwe, Managing Executive of the Cell C Foundation says, “Cell C is honoured to again be part of this wonderful event in aid of supporting the recovery of breast cancer survivors. We at Cell C continue to focus our CSI initiatives on empowering and uplifting women in our country. This year we hope to raise more funds to help Reach for Recovery with the incredible work that they are doing.”
“With one in every 26 South African women across all race groups likely to get breast cancer in their lifetime, and not everyone being able to afford reconstructive surgery after undergoing a mastectomy, we identified the need to commit ourselves to women empowerment. Enter the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo Event, specifically designed to help raise funds for those who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to help themselves,” says Edith Venter, Event Organiser.
Not only will guests be treated to a day of high energy polo matches, comprising of only female players within each team, but they can also look forward to surprise entertainment acts, masterfully concocted cocktail beverages, pampering and pop up stores, giving guests the opportunity to indulge in a luxury shopping experience.
“The event promises to be full of fun, vibrancy and class, with a dash of Madam Zingara added to the mix,” continues Venter.
“Breast Cancer is a very serious illness, and at Reach for Recovery, we are fortunate to have the continuous support and generous contributions of Edith Unlimited, as well as Cell C, in aid of our organisation. At Reach for Recovery, our main objective is to be there for the many women affected by breast cancer as they start their journey of recovery and rediscovery,” says Stephne Jacobs, Chairperson of the Board of Management at Reach for Recovery.
