Whether you're one to follow through on a Resolution, or you prefer to take life as it comes, at one point or another, we all have a spurt of determination to either start something or quit something.
I've searched online for some playful resolutions that reflect the humourous and relaxed nature of our Fellow South Africans:
5. Start cooking without adding Peri-Peri sauce to everything.
It seems that most of our fellow South Africans like to "gooi" in a bottle of Peri-Peri sauce to all of their meals. Some prefer Worcestershire sauce on everything, others sprinkle way too much chilli powder - even on fruits, either way, when you love a sauce (or spice) you go ALL in !
P.S For our Non-South African Readers, "gooi" means "to throw"
4. Go to the beach more... just to look at the ocean, not to swim
Our South African coastlines are beautiful. Just looking at the waves, has a serene effect on our soul - I can attest to this. But as someone who now stays inland and hardly ever gets the opportunity to go to any of our beautiful beaches, this resolution is funny, because if I were ever near a (clear and clean) beach now, I would definitely want to be in the water!

3. Finally learn how to pronounce "Gqeberha" without sounding like I'm choking.
Most South African places may have a tongue-twister effect on some people - it seems this was one of the words that has been giving them problems. I'm not Xhosa speaking, nor did I learn Xhosa, but I did learn (very, very little ) isiZulu at university, and I feel like I still remember that the "Q" has a hard click (where your tongue makes a quick, forceful movement to the roof of your mouth).
With this information, I (personally) pronounce it as "Q (hard click) er, beh, gha"
Am I correct ?
2. Learn how to Braai without burning the meat.
This is a classic one! As South Africans, we are expected to know how to braai, and every public holiday, or every Sunday could be known as a "braai day", but according to the internet, some of us could use a bit of extra practice with learning exactly how to braai!
P.S. For our Non-South African Readers, "braai" is similar to that of "barbecue"
And the final popular Resolution from our Fellow South Africans:
1. Stop saying "now-now" when I mean "sometime next year."
Most of our fellow South Africans are known for their laid-back approach to time. As an Entrepreneur, this is not a good thing!
"Now now" can mean anything from "in a few minutes time", to "never."
