The resort is known for the hot mineral waters that rise up along fault fissures and are heated at the source to between 36 and 45 degrees Celsius. These “triple waters” contain healing chlorides, sulphates and carbonates that can help treat gastric ailments, digestive disorders, constipation, fibrositis, gout, rheumatism, and insomnia, skin disorders such as warts and even the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Not only is it a tranquil venue to relax and unwind with family or friends, it is also steeped in history!
This idyllic resort is situated on the Battlefields route, and was discovered in 1888 by the General Smuts, and his Boer soldiers who made it their centre for recreation, and during the Boer War in the 1900’s, soldiers used one of the rocks on the far side of the river for target practice and the pock marks are still visible today.
Besides the history and the thermal waters, the Resort offers many opportunities for recharging your batteries from chilling in the heated pools or the large Jacuzzi beside the Boulders Bar, there is even a swimming pool alongside the reception.
If you prefer energizing activities and recreation, the Resort has plenty to offer. You can enjoy the thrills of the water park complete with a 45 metre super tube going into the pool near Boulders Bar, two 20 metre high speed slides and even a sprinkler / splash park for the littlies under eight.
For the cycle & running enthusiasts, there is a 22km Mountain Bike Trail and running trail as well as a BMX track. There are MTB, BMX bikes and quad bikes available for hire.
