What are you doing for 67 minutes?
Members of the MasterDrive team will be joining Afrox for Nelson Mandela Day this year.
The teams will be working in a soup kitchen in Johannesburg and will donate and help hand out blankets as well. MasterDrive hopes that a warm meal and blanket will go a long way in making difference as Johannesburg faces their second bitter cold front in July.
The MD of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says the importance of tackling hunger also cannot be underestimated.
“The 67 minutes initiative gives us all an opportunity to help fight one of the major issues we face in South Africa. Malnutrition remains a huge challenge, especially amongst children. We are grateful that we could join Afrox in this initiative. No person should be denied access to a warm meal but this is a reality for many South Africans.
“Helping to reduce the death toll on South African roads is a priority for MasterDrive. In the same way that commitment to this challenge can bring about change, we can also bring about major change to the hunger and malnutrition which also has an enormous effect on lives.”
It is also important that we commit to long-term change.
“While we can take this hour to recognise and reflect on the good Mandela did, it is also important to remember that the challenges South Africans face last much longer than that. As we support Mandela day this year, let’s do it with a cognisance of this and a commitment to carry on our good deeds for the rest of the year and into the future,”
says Herbert.
