Top musical acts booked to perform at Ugu Maskandi Festival on the KZN South Coast
Following the success of last year’s Maskandi Music Festival in Harding, KZN, event organisers are going even bigger this year with the festival set to take place at Ugu Sport and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe on Saturday, 1 October from 10am.
The Ugu Maskandi Festival, which is bringing some of the biggest maskandi stars to the KZN South Coast, is being organised by Ugu Broadcasting Services in partnership with Umuziwabantu and Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality.

"We are excited to, once again, be hosting the Maskandi Music Festival which we believe is on track to becoming a household event in Ugu District,”

Mkhungo added:
"When we hold events of this nature and magnitude, we always strive to ensure local communities benefit most through the temporal job opportunities that will be made available. This extends to local businesses whose services we hire and supplies we rely on.”
The event is set to feature some of the best acts from across the country, including Ntencane, Big Zulu, Khuzani, and the legendary Phuzekhemisi who will be supported by Duncan, Zakwe - and many more. The event will also cater to local KZN South Coast artists that are joining the day’s line-up.

Phelisa Mangcu, CEO of South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE), the official economic development arm of the region, said this was a fantastic example of the type of events that could be hosted in the region.
“It’s wonderful that the inaugural event was so well received and that the KZN South Coast is able to host the second Maskandi Music Festival. This not only celebrates the local talent and culture of the Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom, but it also positions the KZN South Coast as a key events destination, creating jobs and attracting tourism to the region. We’re excited to welcome these incredible artists and the many fans of maskandi to the KZN South Coast!”
The event is open to everyone over the age of 16, with ticket prices of R100 per person or R450 for the VIP experience. Attendees can bring in cooler boxes for R50 per box, with no glass permitted. Tickets are available online or from Pick 'n Pay and Boxer supermarkets.
