Lace Up for Fun at Clearwater Mall’s 10th Annual 10km Race & 5km Fun Run!
It’s that time of year again… time to bring your running shoes out of Winter retirement! Clearwater Mall, in partnership with the Panorama Running Club, is hosting their 10th Annual 10km Race & 5km Fun Run, set to take place on Saturday, 24 August 2024. This event promises to be a memorable day for families and fitness enthusiasts.
Whether you are a serious runner or just keen to get your step count up for the day in the sunshine with the kids, this annual event welcomes all skills levels. This year, participants can choose between the 10km race, starting at 07h00, and the 5km fun run, which begins shortly after the main race at 07h15. Both events offer an excellent opportunity to enjoy a morning of exercise, camaraderie, and entertainment with the West Rand community.
One of the highlights of this annual event is the exciting range of prizes up for grabs. Participants will vie for titles such as King and Queen of the Mountain and have the chance to break existing course records. The current 10km record holders are Mbongeni Ngxazozo, with a time of 30m49s for the men’s category, and Rene Kalmer, who completed the women’s race in 36m27s. Come along and give it your best shot!
The race will commence at Clearwater Mall, next to Entrance 1, and will conclude in the Lifestyle parking area opposite the mall. All participants must complete their race by 09h00, and the prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for 08h30. Race results will be promptly posted online for all to see.
What You Need to Know
Registration for the 10km race is R150, with an additional R60 for a temporary license if needed. The 5km fun run is priced at R80. Online registrations are open until 23h59 on Sunday, 18 August 2024. For those who prefer to register in person, you can do so at the Info Court, Entrance 2 of Clearwater Mall on Thursday, 22 August 2024 and Friday, 23 August 2024 from 15h00 to 19h00. If you are a more spur-of-the-moment person, you can register on the day 05h30 at Entrance 1.
To ensure safety and fairness, age restrictions apply: participants in the 10km race must be at least 14 years old, while the 5km fun run is open to individuals aged 5 and above.
