Silverstar Beach Festival
Fun in the sun and sand, right here in Gauteng! 
This time of the year, the sand between my toes and the beautiful blue sea beckons as relaxation becomes a necessity from the months that have passed.
There might not be a sea, but the feeling of true beach sand to relax on and watch my kid make sandcastles out of, is not over 500km away!
For us, it's approximately 41km to enjoy the beach at the West Rand's favourite entertainment destination, Silverstar.
From today, the 13th December 2018 until Sunday the 6th of January 2019, we will be able to enjoy a bit of a holiday paradise at the Silverstar Beach Festival with sea sand, beach activities, a local market, and some live entertainment lined up.
The beach activities include Sandcastle Building Competitions, Hula Hoop Competitions, Ice Cream Eating Competitions, Tug-o-War and so much more.
My day was spent relaxing and watching my son have fun on the jumping castles, sliding into the water and building sandcastles; being truly encapsulated by the serene atmosphere and almost forgetting where we were!
After feeding our face with ice cream, available at one of the many stalls situated by The Square at Silverstar, we browsed through the local market and went to the Fun Fair Rides area.
The Rides only opened at 4pm, so we didn't get a chance to go on as we wanted to leave, but hopefully we will be back to enjoy the entire sandy amusement park again.
