Johny Johny, Yes Papa
If you haven't heard this song by now you are in luck!
My son is at the age where every so often, he wants to watch something on TV or the iPad. Recently, I downloaded the YouTube Kids App for him so that if he were to watch anything online, it would just be nursery rhymes.
I was in for a big surprise when I heard what he was watching. Although a very catchy tune and children will obviously love it because of that, I have a bit of a problem with this song.
The popular "Johny Johny, Yes Papa" Nursery Rhyme from Chu Chu TV has seen over 206 million views and I'm not sure if parents really know what the song is about.
The song shows a little boy (Johny) sneaking out of bed in the middle of the night to eat sugar. When his father (Papa), asks him if he is eating sugar and telling lies, he says no. His father asks him to open his mouth, and Johny then laughs, "ha, ha, ha!"
I am not sure how this is a nursery rhyme or how it teaches children anything besides how to lie and eat sugar, but you decide for yourself and tell me what you think of it.
