Take on the World

It's very difficult these days to find good TV shows that don't portray the bad elements of society or at least don't have an age restriction due to language or violence.
When I was growing up, there was a show that I used to watch which I thought was good, but didn't really understand it till I was older. There was always a lesson that was taught in each episode with a profound message.
The show took the lives of an average child struggling with all the changes as he went through life which was brilliant as it related to millions of kids around the world. If anyone remembers this classic 90's tv show they will remember how Corey Matthews touched their lives in Boy Meets World.
It's over a decade later and Michael Jacobs has brought the show back to life with the spin off Girl Meets World.
The character Corey Matthews from the original series is now in his thirties and married to his childhood girlfriend Topanga. They have a son August and a daughter Riley. The show is now based around Riley and her friend Maya and how they struggle with growing up.
My son loves the show and watches every episode. He might not understand the message at the moment but the song will always stick in his head as he sings it all the time.
Currently in the third and final season of the series, the latest episode World Meets Girl features children from around the world who relate to the show on different levels, whether it's just an episode or just how the best friends interact with each other on the show.
Watching this episode made me realise the impact that one show can have over someone's life. The same could be said for those that watch reality shows and follow the lifestyle of those in them whether positively or negatively.
It is sad that the show is coming to an end but I do hope that more children or even adults get to watch the previous epodes of Girl Meets World (on the Disney Channel on DSTV) so they too can learn a few of life lessons and "Take on the World".
