Another motoring segment which is growing rapidly in South Africa is the #LuxuryDoubleCab
Gone are the days of the single cab "workhorse" bakkie. Now you can get a car for your business needs but also a decent family car.
One such luxury double cab which has taken the market by storm is the #FordRanger
We had the pleasure of reviewing the Bi-Turbo 10 Speed Automatic #RangerWildtrak and we were highly impressed.
The monster bakkie rules the streets with its higher than normal ground clearance of 237mm (probably highest in its class) and perfect build.
Once you hop in though it doesn't look, nor does it feel like you are driving a bakkie.
The ride is comfortable and the features like the LED daytime running lights. The driver and front passenger bucket seats in the Wildtrak cloth has one feeling that they are in a Ford performance passenger vehicle.
The puddle lamp under the power folding side mirrors and the bright HID headlamps help with visibility if you are planning a trip at night.
These features together with the keyless entry, push start/stop, the automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers had us actually enjoying a drive back home one night in the rain, because we simply opened the door hopped in and pushed to start, everything else took care of itself (well we had to buckle up - safety first!) If all those features are not enough to convince you to upgrade to the Wildtrak then the 157kW engine which pushes out 500nM of torque and the average of 8.0l/100km we achieved on the 80 litre tank might just, or if you are more interested in the loading capacity then you will be pleased to know that the bin is 1549mm x 1560mm and comes with a 12v socket to charge your equipment.
The #NewRanger 2.2l TDCi Double Cab Base 5 speed manual 4x2 starts at R 362 400 while the 2.0l Bi Turbo Double Cab #Wildtrak 10 speed automatic 4x4 in Saber which we tested is priced at R 717 500.
